Celebrating the Black running community in NYC, this Juneteenth event in partnership with VICE Media featured guided group warm-ups and runs led by Adidas Runners NYC captains, meditations, and vendors. The event culminated with an exclusive screening of the first episode of the new Vice TV docuseries Running While Black, and a live fireside chat and Q&A session with series director Jenn Shaw.
Site: Triangle Loft, Meatpacking District
The event took over the upper loft space. Using the large open area for activation, vendor booths, and gathering before group runs. Documentary viewing took place in the corner space, with general gathering spaces in between.
Bringing People Together with a Passion for Running and Social Justice
The event culminated in the venue’s corner loft space, with the premiere of Jenn Shaw’s Running While Black documentary and fireside chat/Q&A, and an opportunity for guests to vent their personal running experiences at the phone booth.
The space welcomed attendees earlier in the afternoon for two scheduled guided group runs, opening up with meditation and warm-up routines in the main space. Small businesses set up in the vendor booths open all day for guest to peruse, with a gallery feature wall (design: Alexandria Machover) showcasing a timeline of Black excellence in running.
